In this two-hour experience, you’ll get a taste of how photography can be a gateway to increased inner stability and calm. We will focus on one primary mindfulness technique that can help us slow down, notice with fresh eyes, and allow a state of open awareness to emerge.

We will begin indoors at Eastworks with a friendly introduction to mindfulness photography. This will be followed by a simple, yet profound, guided mindfulness practice readily accessible to everyone.

Grounded and settled, we’ll then make our way outdoors where you’ll have independent time to explore with your camera, immersing yourself in the natural surroundings of Lower Mill Pond, the Manhan Rail Trail, and the grounds of the historic 1908 Eastworks converted mill building.

After time for photographing, we’ll come together to share experiences and close with inspiration and practical tips for integrating mindfulness into your daily life.

PLEASE NOTE: Remember to bring a camera that you are comfortable using (phone cameras welcome) and note that technical aspects of photography and reviewing photos are not part of this workshop. For all levels of experience in mindfulness and photography. Simply come as you are.

Teacher: Amy Thompson brings two decades of experience as a photographer, educator and mindfulness practitioner to her teaching. A Fulbright fellow, Amy has taught at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Griffin Museum of Photography and other institutions.
